The number 1 reason they chose to manufacture the Rhino Insulated Header System from Structural Steel is that we could have superior strength in the smallest profile possible. The smaller profile allows the installation of the maximum cubic feet of high performance insulation – resulting in our R-25 and R-15 Header Systems.
Dimensional and engineered wood products are simply too thick, leaving little room in the header cavity to effectively insulate. Additionally, wood headers are one of the biggest thermal bridges in construction.
